About

The Department of Agricultural Entomology is one of the departments under the College of Agriculture, Parbhani which was established in the year 1956. Initially the college was under the Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The Marathwada Agricultural University established in the year 1972. Since then the college is running under the University supervision as a constituent college.

The Post Graduate programme in Agricultural Entomology was started from the year 1970 and the Doctoral programme from the year 1976.

Objectives

  • To educate, train and generate agricultural experts.
  • To provide rural entrepreneurship awareness and practical experience in real- life situation in agriculture and allied sectors.
  • To develop high quality professional competence, skill development and confidence to start their own agro-based enterprise.
  • To carry out need based and applied research in agriculture.
  • To develop and transfer agricultural technology to the farmers of the region.
  • To provide solutions to the problems of farming community.
  • To develop the technology for agro-based small scale industries.
  • To provide technical advice and guidance to the entrepreneurs in the region.

Milestones

  • 2012 – Received National Gold Award for e-governance 2012 from Govt. of India for CROPSAP project in which State Agriculture Department is nodal agency and Department of Agril. Entomology, VNMKV, Parbhani is one of the stakeholders.
  • 2014 - Prime Minister Award 2014 for CROPSAP project in which State Agriculture Department is nodal agency and Department of Agril. Entomology, VNMKV, Parbhani is one of the stakeholders.
  • 2018- Devolopment of Insect Museum at Department of Agril. Entomology, VNMKV,Parbhani.
  • 2019- Establishment of Apiary (Honey Bee Unit) at Department of Agril. Entomology, VNMKV,Parbhani.
  • 2017-19 Sucsesfully implimentation campaigan for Management of Cotton Pink Bollworm and Fall army worm in Maize.
